What's New at the NFC Forum

Micropross to Supply NFC Protocol Analyser for NFC Forum Plugfests

Micropross announced that its NFC protocol analyser, the MP300 ACL1, will be made available during NFC Forum Plugfests, in order to help interoperability testing between NFC devices. The MP300 ACL1 is a protocol analyser allowing its users to easily find out the exchanges that occur between two NFC devices.

NFC Forum Leaders Present at WIMA in Monaco, 2012

NFC Forum Chairman Koichi Tagawa delivered a keynote address, “Towards an Interoperable Future”, at WIMA in Monaco, April 13, 2012. NFC Board member Laurent Sourgen from ST Microelectronics, and Secretary Frank Dawidosky from Sony, also presented.

NFC Forum and GlobalPlatform Partner to Accelerate Deployment of Interoperable NFC Solutions

GlobalPlatform, the organization which standardizes the management of applications on secure chip technology, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the NFC Forum, the association that advances the use of near field communication (NFC) technology. The partnership aims to harmonize specification activity to support the development of interoperable, multi-application NFC-based mobile solutions in the wider mobile services ecosystem, and to support NFC Forum certification activities.

NFC Forum and Smart Card Alliance Partner on NFC Solutions Summit

The Smart Card Alliance and NFC Forum are pleased to present NFC Solutions Summit, May 22-24, in San Francisco. The Summit will cover the state of NFC, developments in new NFC devices and add-ons, the status of the growing NFC ecosystem, the promise of NFC-enabled payments and other popular applications, NFC implementation, and American and international market forecasts. 

TÜV SÜD Named as RF Analogue Validation Lab

The NFC Forum Board of Directors has recently approved TÜV SÜD Product Service Ltd. as the NFC Forum validation laboratory for RF Analogue Test Tools. The selection of TUV was made following a Request for Proposal process.

First NFC Forum Application Document Now Available: Bluetooth Secure Simple Pairing Using NFC

The NFC Forum, working with the Bluetooth SIG, has completed our first Application Document, entitled Bluetooth Secure Simple Pairing Using NFC, which is available now for download.

The new publication provides solutions developers with examples that show how to implement Bluetooth Secure Simple Pairing (SSP) in ways that take maximum advantage of NFC technology. It details how the use of NFC can improve standard Bluetooth use cases, such as simplifying and accelerating the pairing of two Bluetooth devices, and it describes the interaction of Bluetooth and NFC during SSP in detail and provides examples of both negotiated and static handover. Solutions providers can use these examples as guides for their own work.

ARTS executive director discusses near field communications in the retail industry
