Learn about the speakers at the 2010 San Francisco Spotlight for Developers.
- Christian Andresen has been a consultant and product manager for wireless technologies and security since 2001. He worked for international IT system vendors and network producers and now works for Stollmann as Head of the NFC Business Unit. In this capacity, he works with customers to develop hardware and software solutions for Near Field Communication.
- Peter Coster hails from Australia and currently lives and works in Tokyo, Japan for Toppan Forms in their hardware and middleware engineering subsidiary, Zixsys Inc., as Product Planning and Marketing Leader. Peter has been involved in the NFC industry since 2008, coming from a sales and training background. Peter currently works on developing software and middleware for NFC and RFID solutions while promoting these technologies through Toppan Forms and Zixsys Inc. Peter is also the NFC Forum Ecosystem Development Working Group Chair.
- Charles Dachs is Marketing and Product Management Director for Mobile Transactions at NXP Semiconductors in Caen, France. He received a Ph.D. degree from the University of Montpellier (France) in 1995 for the work he carried out on radiation effects in electronic devices for aerospace applications. He subsequently worked there as an assistant professor and as a consultant for the CERN, Geneva (Switzerland). In 1998, he joined Philips Research Eindhoven in the Netherlands where he was involved in silicon process and device simulations. In 2000, he became responsible for advanced Front-end CMOS activities at Philips Research Leuven, Belgium. In 2005, Charles joined Philips Semiconductors in Hamburg, Germany as product manager for NFC. From 2007 to 2009, he was Head of Product Management with NXP Semiconductors for Smart card IC´s (Banking, SIM, PayTV) and later for NFC.
- Adam Flis is founder and CEO of Adamsoft. Adam founded the company, which is based in Slovenia, in 1994. Adamsoft has been active in NFC since 2006, with expertise in loyalty and retail software. Currently, Adamsoft has around 10% of the national users using their multi-branch loyalty system for retailer and mobile operators. http://www.adamsoft.si/en/.
- Stuart Fiske is a founding Director of Consult Hyperion. Since 1986, he has specialized in the analysis of business requirements and the specification and verification of payment systems. He provides and oversees specialist consultancy to clients focusing on the design and deployment of innovative identity and payment methods based around the use of secure cryptographic devices. Stuart works with clients such as the global card schemes, banks and fixed and mobile telecommunications operators. His current interests include both contact and contactless payment cards, NFC-enabled phones, and the specification and verification of vendor products which form part of those schemes.
- Shishir Gupta has been an employee of ST-Ericsson for nearly 10 years. He has extensive experience in chip-design, project management and marketing for mobile connectivity technologies. Currently Shishir is working as Product Marketing Manager for multi function connectivity combos for mobile platforms in ST-Ericsson. He is also responsible for business development activities around NFC with ST-Ericsson mobile platform solutions. He is the Vice Chair of the Ecosystem Development Working Group of the NFC Forum.
- Ian Keen is the Sales Support & Applications Manager for Broadcom and has extensive experience in the field of NFC silicon implementation. He has been actively involved with the NFC Forum since the early days of its formation and currently holds the posts of Co-chair for the Technical Committee, Minimum Level of Interoperability Working Group, RF Analogue and RF Testing Task Forces.
- Mohammad Khan is the President and Founder of ViVOtech, a market leader in NFC mobile payments, promotions, Over-The-Air (OTA) provisioning infrastructure software, transaction management software, and contactless terminals. Prior to ViVOtech, he joined VeriFone in its early stage where he held several management positions over 15 years. He was recognized as a leader of the Electronic Payments Industry by Transaction Trends Magazine and as a “Mover and Shaker” of the Electronic Payments Industry by Transaction World magazine.
- Nicolas Ponsini is Project Manager in the Professional & Consumer Devices Business Unit at Trusted Logic where he manages software integrations of Trusted Logic Wireless Security products and the NFC device host stack. He also manages several Research and Development collaborative projects. Nicolas has extended knowledge in different areas such as Java-based embedded platforms, embedded security, cryptography, digital rights management, and NFC payment solutions. He worked on Linux and Android operating systems to integrate security features and NFC device host stack.
- Peter Preuss is a Senior Manager at Nokia, responsible for NFC Business Development in Central and Eastern Europe. Peter has been involved with NFC since 2004. His activities in NFC-based multi-party marketing and project management include launching one of the first commercial NFC Services in Europe. Before joining Nokia, Peter headed the Strategy and New Business Development unit at RMV (Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund), the public transport authority for Frankfurt Greater Metropolitan Area, Germany. He was in charge of the integration of mobile solutions into RMV’s information and ticketing systems.
- Agnes Revel is Director of Key Accounts and Business Development for INSIDE Contactless. Her background as a senior research engineer at Siemens and Motorola gives her extensive experience in accelerating market readiness for new technologies. Before joining INSIDE, she led the NFC standardization strategy for Motorola Mobile Devices and supported all industrial relationships with NFC ecosystem partners. Agnes has also been actively involved in leadership roles within the NFC technology community, formerly serving within the NFC Forum as Chairman of the RF Testing Task Force, Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the TWG Devices group; and co-Chairman of the Pre-Certification Expert Group. She has developed numerous intellectual properties and brought more than 180 contributions to standards.
- Matt Ronning is Director of Engineering for Sony's Component Solutions Business Division located in San Diego, California. In this position, Matt and his engineering team support both module and integrated circuit development for the consumer and automotive markets. As a communications systems engineer, Matt has over 20 years experience in the development of IC's and modules supporting Cellular, Digital TV, GPS, and wireless/wireline PAN/LAN technologies, and has been an active contributor to a number of specification organizations such as IEEE and SAE. Matt is Co-Chairman of the Forum’s Compliance Committee.
- Gavin Shenker has been extensively involved in chip, mobile and contactless technologies for the past 13 years at Visa. He was a core member of the team that designed, helped implement and helped test what was then Visa Open Platform and is the basis for the current GlobalPlatform specifications. More recently, Gavin worked with the development teams that produced the J2ME MIDP Visa Mobile Application (VMA) used on the early NFC enabled mobile phones and deployed in pilots and trials. He is also Visa's primary representative on the NFC Forum Technical Committee as well as Visa's alternate board member.
- Laurent Sourgen is currently director of Strategic R&D programs for Microcontrollers, Memories & Secure Group within STMicroelectronics, and he is also involved in strategic partnerships. After graduating in Electronic Engineering, he started working with silicon integrated circuits. Over the past 20 years, he has been in charge of the team developing smartcard and other secured integrated circuits, where he designed and supervised work for different secure contact and contactless product generations. With good knowledge in related technologies and architectures, he is also involved in various cooperative R&D programs as project leader and expert. He represents STMicroelectronics in different professional organizations such as NFC Forum and Eurosmart.
- Jure Sustersic is Business Development and Developer Relations Manager at Forum Nokia EMEA. Operating from Espoo, Finland, Jure manages business development activities in the Nokia developer ecosystem around emerging technologies and innovation. NFC is one of the key technologies where he has been active for the past 2 years. His history with Nokia and developers began as a developer product manager for the S60 platform. Before settling at Nokia, he was involved in several Internet technology related consultancies, projects, and start-ups. He holds a MBA in High Technology management at Helsinki School of Economics.
- Koichi Tagawa is the General Manager of Sony’s Global Standards and Industry Relations Department that is in charge of technology standards and technology industry relations for the FeliCa Business. Since 2002, he has supported the popularization of NFC and FeliCa from the standardization point of view. He actively contributed to the establishment of the NFC Forum, holding the position of Vice-Chairman from the start of the Forum in 2004 until becoming Chairman in September 2008. He enthusiastically continues to contribute to the enhancement of the NFC ecosystem throughout the contactless application industry.
- Stephen Tiedemann is Principal Engineer at the European Technology Center of Sony Corporation, located in Stuttgart, Germany. Stephen has been active in the NFC Forum since 2007. He has more than 12 years of experience with standardization in a number of organizations and industry associations, including the European Broadcast Union, Wi-Fi Alliance and Continua Health Alliance. Stephen is currently serving as chairman of the NFC Forum Reference Applications working group. His personal focus lies on the use of NFC for consumer device interaction, and he's supporting prototype developments by maintaining an open source implementation of NFC Forum specifications.

The NFC Forum was formed to advance the use of Near Field Communication technology by developing specifications, ensuring interoperability among devices and services, and educating the market about NFC technology. Formed in 2004, the Forum now has 130 members. Manufacturers, applications developers, financial services institutions, and more all work together to promote the use of NFC technology in consumer electronics, mobile devices, and PCs.
