Cartes 2010

NFC Forum members and staff were on hand to showcase the successful launch of the NFC Forum Certification Program at Cartes on December 7, 2010. The audience, composed of journalists and other invited guests, watched several presentations about NFC, the NFC Forum, and the NFC Forum Certification Program before the launch, and they enjoyed a cocktail reception afterward.

The NFC Forum Certification Program gives device manufacturers a means of establishing their products’ compliance with the NFC Forum’s technical specifications. For service providers and consumers, the Certification Program offers increased assurance that NFC Forum-certified products are interoperable with NFC Forum-certified devices. Only companies whose products pass certification testing will be able to display the N-Mark, the universal symbol for NFC, which tells consumers where to touch to initiate NFC services on a device.

The NFC Forum staff met with members and visitors at their booth in the exhibit hall. The booth included a small table where staff could meet individually or in small groups with those who wanted to learn more.

The Certification Program is open only to NFC Forum members. Participants can register their devices to be certified and read many of the applicable certification documents.
